WHAT IT DOES:
Chemclean No.98-D is a highly efficient alkaline in-place cleaner with lime-solubilizing and wetting-out properties that make it excellent for cleaning pasteurizers, tanks, piping and fittings, and other food and dairy processing equipment.
WHAT IT IS:
Chemclean #98-D is a free-flowing white powder that is foam-controlled and free-rinsing. It is a mixture of alkaline salts, buffers, penetrants, and wetting agents. It is safe for use on stainless steel, steel, iron, and copper, but is not recommended for use on aluminum, tin, galvanized, or painted surfaces.
HOW TO USE IT:
Add enough Chemclean #98-D to the water in the solution tank to have ½ to 2 ounces per gallon (37.5 to 150 grams per 10 liters) of solution. Heat with steam and circulate the solution through the unit. Then cool and rinse out the unit, discharging the solution of #98-D while introducing cold water into the system until all surfaces are cool to the touch.
Separate pasteurizer plates and brush them where necessary using a fibre-bristled brush dipped in a solution of #98-D made up at ¼ to ½ ounce per gallon (2 to 4 grams per liter). Rinse with cold water.
Chemclean #98-D is a cleaning compound authorized by the U.S.D.A. for use only in soak tanks or with steam or mechanical cleaning devices in all departments of federally inspected meat and poultry plants. Before using these compounds, food products and packaging materials must be removed from the room or carefully protected. After using these compounds, all surfaces in the area must be thoroughly rinsed with potable water.
